Chrome 28!

BTW, you should post a link to the Chrome blog post about what this update brings.

http://chrome.blogspot.com/2013/05/richer-notifications-coming-to-chrome.html

BTW, I notice that when the Show Apps shortcut option is enabled, the Other bookmarks folder moves to the left.

Will see if whether or not there's a bug already filed.

Is there any way to change the font of the address bar back to what it was?

Patrick said...

Can I have my old New tab Page back?

Sterling said...

@Patrick -- Just go to chrome://flags and disable Enable Instant extended API. The Chrome team will make the new tab the default at some point, so maybe it's best to get used to it.

I kind of like the new tab, but the Google search bar is kind of redundant.

Hi,

Just restarted Chrome Version 28.0.1500.20 beta-m and now I'm stuck with the new stupid menus and --disable-new-menu-style no longer works, will that ever get fixed or are the mouse and keyboard people stuck? An option would be nice and make everyone happier :(

Michael Lockyear said...

Has the "disable-new-menu-style" command-line switch been broken? The touch friendly menus are terrible on the desktop.

This and the last update were so fail. Stop messing up my new tab page would you please!?! I've had to do a clean install both times you pushed version numbers recently as after the update I had a stupid redundant Google Search box in the middle of my screen and my thumbnails were shrunk to stupid sizes on my 1920 pixel wide screen. Knowing it had to be a bug both times and not being able to figure it out I fresh installed and guess what? Back to normal, no stupid search box, thumbnails reg sized again. Would you fix this garbage or do I have to switch browsers again?

I can't even longer find the tab list on the new start page. Where are they now? It was so useful to see the tabs I have opened on my android devices, now it's gone?

Does this version run "Blink" ?

Bring back disable-new-menu-style.

Dear Chrome Developers:

Please please please please please please *STOP* removing the 'old' New Tab page.

The 'new' New Tab page removes 2/3 of my most-visited sites, instantly reducing my productivity. It also doesn't let me see sites visited on other devices, and even removes the ability to quickly reopen any closed tab other than the last-closed tab.

The 'Google Search' bar in the middle of the 'new' New Tab screen is also redundant - I always type searches in the Omnibox.

If you want to add an 'Apps' button, then by all means do that, but please don't press ahead with the rest of this unwanted change.

If you do insist on this unwanted change, then PLEASE at the very least make it a clearly-labeled option in 'Settings' rather than an obscure setting in chrome://flags. I would NEVER have expected this change to be associated with Enable Instant extended API (hat-tip to @Sterling for adding that here).

Thank you.

Personally I don't mind the new NPT, but compared to the old NPT it's noticably slower when opening.

This goes for the 'new' omnibox as well when typing in text.

Since you're touting speed as a feature of Chrome, this is a rather huge step backwards in my opinion.

Thanks

** Why removed "--disable-new-menu-style" command line? Do you think than new menu style that everyone is satisfied? Compliants will be increase after m28 released as stable version. Please, bring back!

** Why changed address-bar font? Bring back previously font.

** Again crashing with "--disable-sync" command line switch.

P.S.: I wait patiently to Opera 14 (Chromium-based). I wonder why?

Daniel said...

Also crashing with "--purge-memory-button" command line switch. Come on, this problem is already 2 months old.

If you must change the omnibar font, at least have an option to restore the original.

I assume someone must have ok'd the new font, but to me it is too large and looks completely out of place.

Every new release is getting worse and worse ! Desktop users are not underdogs !

Chrome is becoming a total bloatware like adobe crap. You add useless features and remove the old look and feel that was perfect.

Old menu style was asked by many since you added the new nonsense-white-huge-menus and now you just spit on our face removing this beloved legacy feature !

Chrome is not anymore user friendly, i will use firefox.

Tom Wilkinson said...

The new omnibar font is truly too big.

I loved my "recently closed tabs" option at the bottom. i really needed it specially being able to use it after my computer crashes turns back on and i could open those tabs again.

this time my computer crashed came back on with new chrome. and i need those tabs.

i tried lookign for solutions comign up with the same answers "open history"
recently closed tabs is not the same as recently opened tabs.
the tabs im looking for are probably scattered all over my history and i dont remember what they were.
and no ctr shit-tab opens recently closed tab since my computer started so that wont work. and i dont know what i can do..

The "--disable-new-menu-style" option is gone???

BRING IT BACK!!

Holy crap this release is buggy as shit. This thing keeps crashing.

Please revert the NTP, show us you are not autistic. We don't want a giant pseudo search bar on that tab, and the miniature pages and links are now much too small for anybody to see unless they have eagles eyes !

This is the second time you've shown your lack of respect in imposing ridiculous and arbitrary changes, the first was the removal of the wrench icon. But THIS ONE IS NOT TO BE TOLERATED ! Please revert ASAP.

BB said...

They don't care about user feedbacks, they just add more and more crap.

Donn Yan said...

please bring back the --disable new menu style command !
i can now stand the new tab page, for it is not the final version ,but you guys can not change the menu style without other option ,for the new style is so stupid on my laptop,it nearly stretch to the bottom of my screen !!! cant you think how stupid is it ?

Hitesh B said...

Just to reiterate what Donn Yan said...PLEASE GIVE US AN OPTION TO DISABLE NEW MENU STYLE. It just plain ol' stupid and lame. How can you guys use this?
