Beta Channel Update
The Chrome team is exceedingly excited to announce the promotion of Chrome 22 to the Beta channel. Chrome 22.0.1229.14 has a number of new and exciting updates including:
- Mouse Lock API availability for Javascript
- Additional Windows 8 enhancements
- Continued polish for users of HiDPI/Retina screens

Hey, it's the "hotdogs" icon! LOL I'm so glad though that it's called the Chrome Menu icon and not "hotdogs" icon.
BTW, is the globe favicon coming back? That blank page is too...well, too blank.

Ha, hotdogs. Also, Sterling, it's a blank page due to HTTPS security of the page I believe. I do miss the old globe though.
Hey what happened to my Wrench, it's now 3 horizontal bars, what the heck does that mean?

My GUESS is that was a STUPID change, everyone knew what the wrench was, a Hotdog bar or whatever it is doesn't make sense but thank you for the explanation, I THINK

Feels like something was adjusted with graphical text rendering and cleartype... can't put my finger on it but the fonts seem more "faint" if that makes any sense.
Yes, font rendering has definitely changed and not it looks much worse. Any way to reverse?
After a bit of tinkering, font issue was solved by disabling GPU compositing.
I like the hotdogs menu because:
(1) The Chrome menu does not only contain settings (which are usually represented by a cog or wrench).
(2) The wrench is already used for the settings tab.
(3) The new icon is similar to the Android "more" menu button.
(4) The horizontal lines seem to flow within the navigation bar better (parallel).
Of course, aesthetics are very subjective...
@Steve1209, actually when you think about it (it looks like a context menu) I it makes more sense than the wrench icon. The wrench icon implied that the menu was for settings / configuration related stuff, when in actuality it was much more than just that -- you also use it to create a new window/tab; view your bookmarks, history, downloads; print the page; etc.
Was not there a Flash Player 11.4 in Stable Channel ? As I only can see in beta a 11.3 now.
@Shantara, thanks for that tip. The new adjustments to font rendering was really straining my eyes. [Windows].
The change in font rendering only seems to affect small text, which is ironic because what was broken in older versions was the rendering of bigger text in Windows 7.
Well, at least this means they have finally decided to do something about the horrid font rendering issue that has plagued Chrome since eternity!
@Shantara: Hi, any other settings changes you might have done? Disabling GPU compositing in flags didn't help me :-(.
@MCZ Try disabling other GPU-related settings in flags, i.e. "Accelerated 2D canvas".
@Jake Lee -- HTTPS sites changed the globe favicon to a padlock. I did noticed that the globe favicon in bookmarks was lighter than the one in the Omnibox.
BTW, I'm also seeing the issue with text in this version of Chrome.

By the way, you guys really need to fix flash. This thing has been crashing like crazy the last couple of weeks,
I personaly do not care whether the icon looks like a key or a hamburger or a hotdog!!! But what matters to me is that this icon for options and parameters should be placed... on the left of the screen and not on the right! So, when Google will finally change its side. Or why not letting users choose in the options whether they want this key option on the left or on the right of the bar? Only Comodo Dragon (a copy of Chrome) allows the latter. So, when will Chrome finally do the same?
I had to disable pepperflash in this beta to get you tube video's to play on Win7 X64, why is that?
Now it is essential to change the ugly folder icon of the 'Other Bookmark'.
folder icons are SO Windows 98!!!

The new menu button is in line with the Options button on Android these days. I like that relationship. I'm not experiencing any text rendering problems with this release using Mactype. Another new feature is using the zoom function pops up a little dialog from the address bar. Sites with preset zooms also have a nice little magnifying glass in the address bar too.
Aesthetically, I prefer the hot dogs, but what I'm really curious about is windows 8 scenarios. Such as why can't the omnibar/tabs auto-hide at the top of the screen to make the browser feel more "metroesque"?
